The late Kevin McArdle founded McArdle’s in 1946 with just one vehicle. Since becoming a registered company in 2001 we have gradually grown to now consist of a fleet of over 40 vehicles and 80 trailing units.
McArdle’s is currently managed by Kevin’s three sons; Wilbur, Bob and Richard. Our main depot is based in the lower mid north region of SA approximately 15kms north of Mallala in the small country town of Long Plains.
Located in the heart of one of Australia’s largest grain belt districts, it is no surprise that Kevin McArdle began his business supplying local farmers with transport solutions for moving their grain and hay to the major ports in SA.
Since this time McArdle’s have diversified their company into 3 core business areas; bulk dangerous goods, general freight and bulk haulage. All areas have the same high level of commitment to safety and customer service.
McArdle’s have diversified over the years into different fields within the transport industry. Today we transport;
- Bulk Dangerous Goods
- General Freight
- Heavy Vehicles (direct to dealers or private customers)
- Bulk Grain and Fertiliser
At McArdle’s our focus is on you our customers’, helping you to achieve your logistic goals. Our company is committed to providing outstanding service, we are flexible enough to meet your requirements as they change, we even have purpose built equipment for some of our long term contracts, that’s commitment.
Training & Development
Training and development in all areas of our business are very important at McArdle’s, enabling our experienced staff to provide you with the right advice and service that will exceed your expectations every-time. With over 60 employees, McArdle’s are dedicated to providing our customers with the highest quality of service possible.
Bulk Dangerous Goods
Dangerous goods are transported as a part of a primary contract to a leading international specialist gas company. McArdle’s have been this primary contractor since 1980, transporting dangerous goods such as argon, carbon dioxide, nitrogen and oxygen in pressurised road tankers. This affiliation is testament to our ability to adapt to change over the years within an increasingly demanding industry and has helped us to establish our business in this specialised field. We also are equipped to transport ammonium nitrate to service the mining industry in South Australia with vehicles running weekly trips from NSW to South Australia.
Our general freight business operates a large fleet of b-double and road train configurations including flat top, drop deck and curtain sider trailers. We transport from Adelaide to Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne on a weekly basis. Call us and speak with one of our friendly staff today to see how we can assist you with your requirements.
Heavy Vehicle transport is a specialised area and requires the right equipment to get the job done. We operate a weekly service from Brisbane to Adelaide transporting new vehicles for a leading truck manufacturer to dealers in South Australia. This configuration is an ultra low profile b-double combination permitted to transport vehicles to 4.6m high. Standard heights permit only 4.3m for b-doubles but our combination has been approved by both the QLD government and SA government to transport to these heights for the transport of vehicles only. The trailers are purpose built with an low deck height of just 800mm. They provide excellent stability for high loads and the provision of loading ramps makes it possible to off load virtually in any location.
Hay, Bulk Grain & Fertiliser
The bulk haulage of grain sees us operate silo to silo movements of grain for some of Australia’s leading grain marketing companies. This freight is transported from both intrastate and interstate sites by our large fleet of b-double aluminium tippers all year round. Bulk grain, fertiliser and hay are also seasonal areas of work and started as our life line back in 1946 and to this day remains an important part of our company. At harvest time we transport a majority of local farmers’ grain to major ports right across the state. In Hay season we can save you time and money with our large fleet and multiple configurations available and we have the ability to transport your hay right across Australia.
